Doors, and the art of hanging them
A door hung well is invisible; a door hung badly is a daily irritation. We hang, ease and adjust internal and external doors, replace frames and linings, and fit the furniture, hinges, latches, handles, so everything closes sweetly. Fire doors get special care: correct gaps, intumescent strips, self closers and certification aware fitting, because in rentals, HMOs and communal areas a fire door is a legal device, not just a door.
Built in storage and finishing joinery
Alcove cupboards and shelving that use the space terraces waste. Wardrobes built to the ceiling. Under stairs storage that finally earns its keep. Boxing in for pipes and services that looks intentional. Skirting, architrave, window boards and panelled feature walls fitted with tight joints and ready for our decorators, one team, so the finish flows from timber to paint without a gap in the schedule.
First fix, second fix and repairs
Stud walls and door openings formed, floors and joists repaired or levelled, loft hatches fitted, and the structural timber honesty that comes from working alongside our own refurbishment projects daily. Repairs are welcome at any size: a creaking stair tread, rotten window board, a gate rebuilt, kitchen units adjusted, the small jobs where a proper carpenter beats a tube of filler every time.
For landlords and agents
Between tenancies, carpentry is the difference between tired and cared for: doors eased so nothing sticks, kitchen unit repairs instead of replacements, fire door compliance sorted with paperwork, and the boxing in that hides ugly runs before photos are taken. Batched with decoration and flooring in one void schedule, it is high impact and quick.
Frequently asked questions
Do you fit fire doors to compliance standard?
Yes: correct gaps, strips, closers and hardware, fitted with the care a legal safety device demands, with photographic records for your file.
Can you build fitted storage in awkward spaces?
That is favourite work: alcoves, eaves, under stairs. Measured, built and finished to look like the house came with it.
Do you handle small repairs?
Gladly. A sticking door, a creaking tread, one length of skirting. Small carpentry done properly is the fastest trust we earn.
Do your carpenters work within bigger projects?
Constantly. First and second fix inside our refurbishments, and finishing joinery ahead of our own decorators, all on one schedule.
Can you match existing period mouldings?
Usually yes. We source or replicate profiles so repairs in older properties disappear rather than announce themselves.
